Jill Taylor Senior Stewardess
After leaving Craigholme School in her hometown of Glasgow, Scotland at the age of seventeen with excellent examination results, Jill studied journalism whilst working on the news desk of the Scottish Daily Record newspaper.
Following a summer as a horse riding instructor in Vermont at the age of twenty and island hopping throughout Greece and Turkey for four months, Jill decided against an office job and searched for an alternative vocation. Jill chose the yachting industry and made her way to the French Riviera and began the search for work in Antibes.
Jill’s first yachting job was in 2001 on the busy 50m charter motor yacht, ’Inspiration’, where she remained for one year as third stewardess, learning the many facets of yachting whilst cruising the Caribbean and the US East Coast. Following a six month break in New Zealand, Jill joined the 52m charter motor yacht, ‘La Naturalle Dee’, which was based in Monaco and remained a crew member for one year firstly as third stewardess and then second stewardess.
A three month seasonal position on the 35m charter yacht ‘Eliza Jean’ as chief stewardess was quickly followed by a three month seasonal position as head bartender and then maitre d’ hotel on the infamous 99m charter yacht, ‘Christina O’, once owned by the legendary Onassis family. After leaving ‘Christina O’, Jill accepted the position of guest services manager at a new thirty-four bed rental property on the private island of Mustique, West Indies. This allowed her to develop her management skills with a staff of fifteen and enjoy having a fixed base for the first time in four years. She remained in Mustique for eighteen months before returning to Europe and yachting as chief stewardess, joining the 40m charter yacht, ‘Aqualibrium’ and then the 45m charter yacht ‘Star Ship’. Jill finally found her ideal boat in ‘Salu’ in May 2008 and very much enjoys being a member of this professional and talented team.
